It actually could happen if the person's spouse was not a practicing Christian themselves. It's one thing when a person calls themselves a Christian, it's another thing when the person acts like a Christian.
So if they stop actively practicing their faith by going to church, reading the Bible, saying prayers, doing charitable things for others they would eventually deteriorate in their faith. Then it is possible that they might become an agnostic or even an atheist.
Now with that being said my wife is a practicing Christian.
